Challenge
Help with building designs of more than 70,000 sf and targeting USGBC LEED Gold certification, the new Eugene D. Schermer Building at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, Washington features laboratories, art studios, classrooms, meeting spaces, and computer labs.
Solution
This project utilized chilled beam technology to meet USGBC LEED Gold while maintaining ASHRAE Standard 55 thermal comfort. Labs with 20+ ACH (Air Changes per Hour) were designed with swirl diffusers that aided in meeting ASHRAE Standard 55 and low noise in teaching labs.
